[Oct. 15th, 2008|10:56 am] |
ew work has been massive, insane, ridiculous, stupid. i'm surprised i still have hair. -- nook is busted. seriously. no one comes in. there's more traffic where i moved...on the street...but no one walks in. i hear a lot of "what is that place?" and the folks just walk on by. why bother going in when you are curious about a place? i mean, wouldn't that be the logical thing? take 1 minute out of your day and be "oh, ok." but no, that's now how things work in the village. -- the messenger post newspapers made fun of my sign. then the ad sales woman came in and tried to sell me on buying an ad. i told her, "i'm sorry. you've lost my business for good. the editorial side could have called and gotten a great quote from me about the sign, but instead they chose to make fun of my business. please don't come here again." she "apologized" and as she was walking out said, "i hope you'll decide to place an ad with us at some point." really? is she that big of an idiot? does she have a brain? i feel sorry for her children, if she has any. -- in brighter news... AIGA's Design for Democracy posters will be up from Saturday until the week after the elections. i think we're the only place in town that will have them up for a long period of time. -- my bloody valentine was a let down, in case anyone was wondering. i might see the dears next week in hoboken. |

at least i get to catch up on old 'george lopez' episodes. and get even more psyched for my bloody valentine tonight in toronto...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |

saw an accident happen at jefferson + e. henrietta road last night. both drivers were trying to beat the red, so i don't feel bad for either of them. no one was hurt.
is it really that important to make that light? 30 extra seconds will ruin your life? |

| Question... |
[Aug. 6th, 2008|09:34 am] |
Does seeing Kelly + Austin from 'The Baby Borrowers' count as a celebrity sighting? Hrm...I didn't think so.
For some reason, they were standing outside the hotel I'm staying in, the uber-glamerous Club Quarters (urgh). Cory also walked by into the elevator. Maybe that's where NBC put them up? If so, NBC is cheap.
I called J and told him who I saw and he was all, "Did you talk to them?" I said, "What was I going to say? ... 'You looked fatter on TV?'...'It's a good thing you broke up?'...'Kelly, you're a big baby?'"
Oh yeah - Kelly had on 543 lbs of make-up, but was in a lovely, flow-y dress, while Austin was in a suit that looked much too big for him.
That is all. |

| the past few days + last night |
[Jul. 24th, 2008|02:09 pm] |
i stayed at the pod hotel while i was in nyc. if you ever wondered what staying at a swanky hostel would be like, this is the place.
time line of last night: 5pm- note jetblue has canceled 2 flights to rochester, my flight is ok 6pm- call jetblue to ask if the status will change on my flight. "oh no! we would know by now. you will probably be the lucky one to get out! of course, this can change at any moment." 730pm- down a pint and a lamb sandwich thing at an australian pub on 4th ave in brooklyn 915pm- run to atlantic station to get on lirr to jfk 1015pm- get through security at airport. it's hot in the terminal. there are bodies all over the place. you'd think a natural disaster occurred. kids are asleep all over. everyone looks pissed. 1032pm- "for those traveling on flight 30 to rochester, you plane is coming from long beach and is in the area. once it lands and cleaned, we will get you on and off to rochester." 1033pm- "for those traveling on flight 30 to rochester, this flight has been CANCELED." (no lie, about a minute after the first announcement.) people are screaming. lots of curse words are thrown about. i just stand there, sweating...i call the corp travel agency. 1034pm- the flight to buffalo is announced as canceled. 1035pm- the flight to orlando is announced as canceled. 1035+30secondspm- another flight is canceled. 10.38pm- on the loudspeaker "most flights tonight will be canceled, please call 1.800.jetblue to rebook. 10.40pm- i walk across to the ticketing area and sit on the floor, on hold. 11.10pm- talk to agent, get booked on delta flight. all hotels in nyc booked, get disconnected cause my phone dies. 11.12pm- stand in the bathroom using phone (it was the only place with a working outlet). still no hotels. she wants to put me in the imperial motor inn in east new york. i'm like "uh...no." 11.15pm- call lou. ask if i can crash. 11.17pm- check out taxi stand ... there are at least 200 people in line. 11.23pm- get on airtrain to AA terminal and get in that taxi stand line (3 people). 11.30pm- get in cab 11.58pm- drive by shea stadium and laguardia. (WTF?! lou lives in carroll gardens) 12.10am- swipe cc in cab to pay. cabbie tries to pull scam "CC machine NO WORK!" it totally works. he looks dumbfounded. 12.16am- show up at lou's. i want to die. have a glass a water. we talk. 6.15am- get up. 6.45am- walk in drenching rain to subway. 7.40am- get to delta terminal...it's mass chaos. people are yelling at the agents. agents say "if you weren't here 3 hours before your flight, your bag isn't getting on the plane." bags are everywhere. 8.50am- board plane. read people. sleep.
i'm home now. beh. |

the ting tings rule my world. the link is to stream their show from the 9.30 club in dc.
i first heard 'that's not my name' when i was out in LA in january with katy. we were driving around and the dj said something like "you will love this song." i was taken by the handclaps...and have been freaking out over them ever since.
so there you have it. you really should love them as much as i do. if you don't, well, we can't be friends anymore. |

1/ the floor is in. it's beautiful. 2/ saw 'hancock'. 'wall-e'.'get smart'. basically everything out now except 'wanted' + 'kit kittredge' but i want to see both of those. 3/ went to ikea on july 4th. i love canada. hate canadian roads. 4/ i'm in nyc now. six columbus rules. 5/ phone/internet will be installed next week. 6/ opening in 3 weeks...hopefully. fingers crossed. already have winery set up to come and do tastings! 7/ fig closed in bushnell's basin. very, very, sad. the food was delicious and the owners lovely. i sometimes hate rochester and their penchant for chain stores/eateries. |

+rochester work was intense. new store not even close to being done, but finally found a floor and the sign is being made as i type this. ew work is busted busy.
+in san antonio now for "vacation" but i really don't understand the meaning of that word. got in saturday night and had habanero grill burrito. sunday we lazed about at home and grilled filet mignon. my dad overcooked them, but that's ok. monday my sis and i went to fiesta texas. it was 104 outside. she got burnt, i got tan. saw 'zohan' - it was a good horrible. drank a mega-size soft drink, and i don't ever drink soda. had dinner at mimi's cafe, me did not like. yesterday, went around with my folks to the dentist, the car dealership, etc. took my sister out for dinner at le reve last night. it was amazing. i recommend it. had too much wine, as we opted for the wine pairing. grandparents were here earlier today, tonight headed to ounce, a new-ish steakhouse. leave for roc-city tomorrow afternoon.
+did i mention the store is busted and ew work is insane? yeah - welcome to my world. |
